Kristian May, LMFT

Kristian is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving clients at the Sharpsburg location. Kristian graduated from LaGrange College with a Bachelors in Psychology and then pursued her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. In her career as a therapist, Kristian has worked with clients from many different backgrounds including mental health and substance abuse in both private practice and community-based settings. Kristian provides individual therapy to teens and adults, as well as family and couples therapy. Kristian specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, grief, couples’ conflicts, marriage enrichment, premarital counseling, family conflicts, addiction, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Kristian has been trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, a therapy designed to help couples, families, and individuals identify and communicate their emotions more effectively, as well as PREPARE/ENRICH, a tool used to enrich relationships or prepare couples for marriage. Kristian uses a client-centered and solution-focused model that utilizes talk therapy, art therapy, and educational material. Kristian enjoys meeting clients where they are in life and helping them walk the path to discovering themselves. She creates a safe and warm place in which clients can freely express themselves, build their self-esteem, and reach their full potential.
