I believe therapy should be a place where you feel heard, supported, and respected while also being encouraged to better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and take practical steps toward meaningful change.
I work with children ages four and older, adolescents, adults, older adults, and families. I have experience supporting individuals and families navigating autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, parent-child concerns, and other emotional and behavioral concerns. My clinical experience spans community mental health, school systems, outpatient care, and inpatient settings, allowing me to work with individuals across a variety of ages, backgrounds, and life experiences.
My counseling style is direct, supportive, and collaborative. I believe meaningful change begins with developing greater self-awareness, understanding the factors contributing to current struggles, and identifying what can be done differently. I strive to create a space where you can be honest about what is not working while also recognizing the strengths and abilities you already possess.
Depending on your needs and goals, I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, strengths-based approaches, and other evidence-based interventions. Together, we can work on developing effective coping and emotional regulation skills, strengthening relationships, increasing self-awareness, and finding practical strategies to navigate the challenges you are facing.
My passion for counseling and advocacy began when my family opened our home to foster children, several of whom had special needs. Through those experiences, I saw firsthand how important accessible mental and behavioral health support can be for children and families. This experience helped shape my decision to become a counselor and continues to influence the compassion and advocacy I bring to my work.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My background in both social work and counseling has shaped my holistic approach to therapy. I consider not only the challenges that bring you to counseling, but also your relationships, environment, experiences, strengths, values, and the things that matter most to you.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like something we are doing together. You do not have to come into therapy knowing exactly what needs to change or how to change it. We can begin with where you are, identify where you would like to go, and work together to help you move forward with greater understanding, confidence, and purpose.
I am currently working under the supervision of Terilynn Culverhouse, LPC, CPCS.
