
Josh Hanson is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. He earned a Bachelors of Science in Middle School Mathematics Education at Gardner-Webb University and a Masters of Behavioral Sciences in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University.
Josh had a previous career as a swim coach where he worked with children, adolescents, young adults and families. He worked in both athletic and educational settings to help foster growth in individuals as athletes and people. Through his experience and work as a teacher and coach, he realized his enthusiasm towards helping and witnessing people heal, grow, and flourish in their lives.
Josh takes a client-centered approach to counseling, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and strength-based interventions. He has experience working with clients across the lifespan and from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and religious backgrounds. Josh has supported individuals navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, anger management, stress, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, trauma, grief and loss, identity-related concerns, and life transitions.
Josh values each client’s unique story and works to create a safe, supportive, and respectful therapeutic environment. He tailors treatment to the individual needs and goals of each client, emphasizing collaboration and practical tools for lasting change.
Josh is currently practicing under the supervision of Terilynn Culverhouse, LPC, CPCS.
