Shirell Holmes, LMSW

Shirell is a Licensed Master Social Worker who obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development with a concentration in Early Childhood and Family Systems from Empire State University.  She received her Master’s from Rutgers University in 2020 with degrees in Social Work and a Certificate for Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).  Shirell has four years of experience counseling trauma survivors – individuals who have experienced domestic and sexual violence or human trafficking.  ​

Shirell’s philosophy and approach to counseling are to create a trusting and supportive environment for clients in which she aims to utilize strength-based and client-centered therapies, as well as empowerment.  She believes in working together to create the best treatment plan suitable for each individual by focusing on the individual’s thoughts and feelings. Shirell combines several therapeutic orientations including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness Therapy.

Shirell is practicing under the supervision of Erica Grant, LCSW.
